Gustavo Betancourt's Golf Tips
Play with Attitude
Having our course at sea level represents a greater challenge for golfers, if you feel that the ball flies less than at your home course, you’re probably right. Make sure to fine tune your distance while taking practice swings at the driving range prior to your round.
Use the Wind to Your Advantage
Wind plays a big factor, especially during the spring and summer months when there is usually a two-club difference when playing against the wind. At Mukul, we have east to west winds throughout the course with swirling winds arising on hole 11. On the course, make sure to use this to your advantage and plan your strategy before starting your round.
Take Advantage of the Par 5's
Holes 13 and 16 are the longest par fives on the golf course, but don’t get intimidated by this, as you’ll probably hit one of your longest drives by teeing it up high and letting the downwind stream do it’s work. This will leave you with ample opportunity to hit the green in two shots, and with precision, you can position yourself to putt for an eagle.
Use the Slope to Your Advantage
Most greens at our golf course have slopes surrounding them, allowing you the opportunity to use them to your advantage. This can help you shave strokes off your game. If you have time to play the course more than once, be sure to hit a couple shots into the slopes and see how the ball gently rolls toward the hole. This extra room to experiment will help you tremendously once you find your perfect shot.
Make Your Mark on the Eighteenth
Our signature hole is the eighteenth, our jewel atop the crown. You will immediately be entranced by the view, but make sure to keep your game face on. When assessing what club to use, make sure to hit one more club than what the distance suggests, as air tends to weigh more on this hole given its proximity to water. You don’t want to end up in the sand trap, which would compromise your picture-perfect finish. Remember to use one more club, and don’t forget to swing easy.
